Stop Firestone
- While Bridgestone Firestone banners blanketed the Super Bowl half-time
show, the Stop Firestone kicked off a campaign that put the company
president Dan Adomitis on the defensive in a public Los Angeles
Times opinion debate. An editorial ran in The Charleston Gazette,
an article appeared in The Nation, and the Berkeley City Council
passed a resolution demanding that Bridgestone Firestone improve
working conditions at its Liberian plantations.
Presidential Climate Action Plan - The Institute's Sustainable
Energy and Economy Network project took part in drafting, and is
now publicizing the bold, comprehensive non-partisan Presidential
Climate Action Plan. The plan calls for presidential leadership
on climate change, and, rooted in climate science, works to ignite
innovation at every level of the American economy. This initiative
is setting the stage for 2008 presidential candidates to take positions
