IDEAS INTO ACTION
Stop Firestone - While Bridgestone Firestone banners blanketed the Super Bowl half-time show, the Stop Firestone kicked off a campaign that put the company president Dan Adomitis on the defensive in a public Los Angeles Times opinion debate. An editorial ran in The Charleston Gazette, an article appeared in The Nation, and the Berkeley City Council passed a resolution demanding that Bridgestone Firestone improve working conditions at its Liberian plantations.

Presidential Climate Action Plan - The Institute's Sustainable Energy and Economy Network project took part in drafting, and is now publicizing the bold, comprehensive non-partisan Presidential Climate Action Plan. The plan calls for presidential leadership on climate change, and, rooted in climate science, works to ignite innovation at every level of the American economy. This initiative is setting the stage for 2008 presidential candidates to take positions on specific proposals to address climate, energy and national security.
