Roy Bourgeois: My Journey from Silence to Solidarity

May 3, 2013 @ 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM

$15.00
Roy Bourgeois – founder of The School of Americas Watch(soaw.org), Vietnam Vet, and former Maryknoll Priest — has devoted his ministry to social justice and to educating the public about U.S. foreign policy, particularly in Latin America. He served time as a prisoner of conscience and was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2010.

Roy will review the history of The School of Americas Watch, and discuss new developments in the fight for social justice in Latin America. He will share how his activism led to another cause: supporting women’s rights to ordination in the Catholic Church. After serving 40 years as a Maryknoll Priest, he has recently been excommunicated for his public support of women priests: “The problem is not with God, but with an all-male clerical culture that views women as lesser than men.” *

Come join us to honor and support this beloved leader of the peace movement in his continued journey of speaking truth to power.
